About Brian Orr

Dr. Orr is a board certified Pediatrician who has been practicing for 26 years. Orr has served as chair of a health center board, and a chief of a department of Pediatrics. He spent seven years in the U.S. Navy. Since moving to the North of Boston in 1989, Brian has written over 100 parenting articles. Dr. Orr is the author of “A Pediatrician’s Journal – Caring for Children in a Broken Medical System”. Brian Orr is also the co-author of two parenting books, The Everything Guide to the One Year Olds and The Everything Guide to Two Year Olds. Dr. Orr holds six parenting workshops at schools and parenting groups.

Each year, Brian Orr and his family travel to Honduras to volunteer at the Nuestro Cequeno Herwanas in Honduras.  Orr and his family have been taking part in the family tradition for nearly 10 years and will continue to do so.

When Brian Orr is not writing or giving parenting workshops, he practices full time at Cape Ann Pediatricians in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Over the last 18 years Dr. Orr has worked in various ways to advocate for adolescent care. Orr has worked with homeless and runaway youth, opened teen clinics in 4 locations, served as chair of an Adolescent Care Committee for a major health plan in Massachusetts, and, until recently, directed medical care at the school based health center at Gloucester High School. The resignation of Dr. Orr in the spring of 2008 from his position at Gloucester High School sparked an international debate on teen pregnancy and reproductive health services for teenagers.
